So, you’re interested in online teaching? Here are several tips to get started!

To successfully participate in online teaching, you’ll need to be able to do a few things well!

1. Use technology with ease! User Friendly is key!

Make sure you understand the technology that you will be using to teach online. Find an online teaching platform that’s user friendly! For example, plenty of online teachers like to use Skype because of its simplicity.

2. Find your niche in education!

Truly dig deep within your educational being and discover the subject that you would like to teach. Stick to this niche! If ESL is your niche, stick to ESL!

3. Create a few lesson plans that focus on online teaching 

Make sure your lesson plans is online teaching friendly!

4. Spend some money on good technology for your online teaching

Make sure to invest in a good camera, headphones and microphone. You’ll also need a computer that can handle video/ audio streaming as well!

5. Willingness to promote yourself

If you would like to compete with other teachers as an independent contractor, you’ll need to promote yourself through your website, blog, YouTube, Facebook, Twitter, and etc. Currently, students don’t just show up and they have lots of choices. So, treat your online teaching as a business because it is YOUR business and be passionate enough to promote it to the world! The world is your platform to success 🙂
